Mission to New World Icon by Patricia Reid, RSCJ

This icon by RSCJ iconographer Patricia Reid memorializes the final meeting between St. Madeleine Sophie and St. Philippine Duchesne in 1818. Philippine was embarking on her journey to the New World to fulfill her long desire to serve as a missionary, as can be seen in her dress (while travelling, the sisters often wore street clothes rather than the habit).

The icon hangs in the chapel at the Sacred Heart Schools in Chicago.
