On Friday, October 12, most of the 25 Religious of the Sacred Heart living at Teresian House gathered for a special event with eight of the Carmelite Sisters for the Aged and Infirm, who operate the facility. The occasion? A blessing of a painting of Mater Admirabilis, given to Teresian House by the Society of the Sacred Heart.
The painting's mellow blues, greens and pinks blend beautifully with the decor in the Country Garden Room of Teresian House, where this serene image now hangs. Cora McLaughlin, RSCJ gave a presentation of the Mater's genesis from the original fresco, once hidden by curtains, to the lovely picture which continues to calm and console so many today.
Sister Pauline, Administrator of Teresian House, told of her three visits to the original painting while in Rome many years ago. Lots of conversation followed along with light refreshments. Sister Pauline thanked the Sacred Heart Sisters for their prayerful presence at Teresian House and said how consoled she is to find them in the chapel, praying for the greater world and for the needs of the residents of Teresian House.
