Harriet
Padberg, RSCJ, of St. Louis was honored in late January for her work as
a music therapist at Emmaus Home for developmentally disabled adults.
She was among three women presented with the Epsilon Sigma Alpha’s
DIANA Award (Distinguished International Academy of Noble Achievement).
Sister
Padberg, retired from teaching at Maryville University, devotes twelve
hours a week to her new ministry and reports that many behavior
problems are reduced or eliminated as she plays the organ or sings to
or with the residents.
The DIANA Awards are presented to
individuals “who have unselfishly given of themselves to a remarkable
degree in some area of service that benefits others … a person who
exemplifies in daily life the wholesome and inspiring qualities of
love, faith and courage.”
