Sister
Carolyn Osiek, rscj, has been appointed Professor of New Testament at
Brite Divinity School, Fort Worth, Texas. She will assume her new post
in the fall.
Sister Osiek, former president of the Catholic
Biblical Association, is currently Professor of New Testament at
Catholic Theological Union in Chicago, where she has taught since 1983.
She holds a doctorate in New Testament and Christian Origins from
Harvard University, a master’s in theology from Manhattanville College
and a bachelor’s degree from Fontbonne University in St. Louis, with a
major in French.
In addition to dozens of academic articles
and contributions to biblical commentaries, Sister Osiek has written
eight books and more than 80 articles for general readers.
Her books include Beyond Anger: On Being a Feminist in the Church (Paulist Press, 1986) and Families in the New Testament World: Households and House Churches, co-authored with David Balch (Westminster John Knox, 1997).
Brite
Divinity School, a graduate school affiliated with Texas Christian
University, trains men and women for Christian ministry in an
ecumenical setting. It is one of four seminaries of the Christian
Church (Disciples of Christ).
