Maureen Glavin, rscj, has been appointed head of school at Academy of the Sacred Heart, St. Charles, Mo.
She will succeed Margaret Caire, rscj, who is retiring. Sister Caire has been head of school in St. Charles for twenty years.
Sister
Glavin, presently director of the junior high school at Carrollton
School of the Sacred Heart in Miami, previously taught math and science
at the St. Charles school and at Our Lady of Guadalupe in Houston, a
school affiliated with the national Network of Sacred Heart Schools.
She
spent three years in Tanzania, East Africa, where she became proficient
in Swahili while teaching secondary level English, math and science at
the Arusha Catholic Junior Seminary.
She holds a bachelor’s
degree with a major in chemistry from St. Lawrence University in
Canton, New York, and a master’s degree in theology from St. Thomas
University in Houston. She is a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
Sister Glavin’s appointment in St. Charles is effective July 1.
