Kathleen Sullivan, RSCJ, appointed Professor Emerita
Kathleen
Sullivan, RSCJ, was appointed Professor Emerita at Seattle University,
where she has taught math in the School of Engineering for eighteen
years. Sister Sullivan will continue teaching math at the school. She
will also pursue a variety of out-of-the-classroom teaching
experiences, including her annual summer “Splash” program for girls
from schools in the Seattle area who are top achievers in science and
math. Sister Sullivan founded the program eleven years ago and has
acquired funding grants from companies in the Seattle area.
Recently,
Sister Sullivan was pictured in Seattle University’s magazine teaching
math to some of the homeless people of “Tent City,” which the
university welcomed to its campus for about three months.
She
also organized a poster session in Atlanta on “outreach programs in
mathematics for women and girls” at the annual meeting of the
Mathematical Association of America.
