Kathleen Sullivan, RSCJ, of Seattle received a “Champion of Catholic Education” award from the Archdiocese of Western Washington on February 2.
Sister Sullivan, Seattle University professor emerita, was honored for decades of teaching mathematics to children, adolescents and young adults in every year of grade school, high school, college and graduate school. Her years of experience include teaching in six different Catholic colleges and universities, including Seattle University, where she has taught for more than two decades.
Also cited was Sister Sullivan’s long involvement with “Splash,” a summer math and science enrichment program for middle school girls of diverse backgrounds in Seattle. Sister Sullivan founded the program and,, along with other staff members, has supervised it for fifteen years.
The program was featured in the fall issue of the Seattle University magazine in an article titled “Girl Power.”
