Magnetti ends her run at Sacred Heart, by Colin Gustafson
As she prepares to retire after 19 years as head of
Convent of the Sacred Heart, Sister Joan Magnetti realizes she's been
leading the school longer than most of the students have been alive.
Yet at age 63, the educator says she's still amazed by how much
she has learned from the students, even the youngest ones, at the
all-girls private school on King Street.
"Holiness doesn't come just by living longer. What I love about
education is that your students teach you," Magnetti said. "I've seen
young kids under the age of 10 who have come out and said some of the
most insightful things, or lived through a life struggle with such
faith and courage, it's humbling."

Thumbs up and a fond farewell to Sister Joan Magnetti, who last week
oversaw her final graduation as headmistress of the Convent of the
Sacred Heart, after leading the Catholic school for girls for 32 years.
That's a long time for someone to lead an educational institution
-- and a blessing for the young women who attended the school during
Sister Magnetti's time there.

Sacred Heart students benefited from having a role model of dignity,
strength and humor, whose high expectations for her students was
matched by her compassion for all.
Sister Joan Magnetti has been a credit to the school and a credit to the town of Greenwich, and we wish her well.
