Janet
Rhodes, bookkeeper for the Society of the Sacred Heart, U.S. Province,
marked 25 years in the post on November 3 with a celebration at the
Society’s U.S. Province headquarters in St. Louis. The U.S. provincial
team and province staff members in St. Louis attended a luncheon in
Rhodes’ honor at the provincial house on her anniversary.
RSCJ
throughout the United States sent her cards, letters, e-mails and
gifts. She received a clock from the U.S. provincial team inscribed
with a message of gratitude for her years of service.
In a
prayer of thanksgiving, Kathleen Conan, RSCJ, U.S. provincial, read a
prayer that included these words: “On behalf of the countless RSCJ who
know only Janet’s voice, but have benefited from her kindness, let us
give thanks for the untold gifts of her mind and heart.”
Rhodes
began working for the former St. Louis Province of the Society of the
Sacred Heart on November 3, 1980, and became a staff member of the U.S.
Province when it was formed in 1982, combining five regional provinces
in the United States..
Before working for the Society, Rhodes worked for Connecticut Mutual Life Insurance Company for more than sixteen years.
“It
has been a wonderful experience working for the Society,” Rhodes said,
“and I will always cherish my friendships with the RSCJ. I thank them
for the memories.”
