In East Harlem, New York City, several RSCJ were among celebrants at a ribbon-cutting ceremony May 5 for a new home for Little Sisters of the Assumption Family Health Service.
Sister Judy Garson, rscj, is executive director of the agency, which offers social services
to address family health from a variety of perspectives: physical,
emotional, educational and spiritual.
Sister Garson said
the new facility – the 46-year-old agency’s first permanent home - at
333 East 115th Street is the product of 15 years of searching for a
location to bring all services under one roof. Previously, the agency
has provided services for some 6,000 people while operating at five
separate leased sites.
The building, designed by architect Peter Gluck, features red and blue
moveable metal exterior panels alternating with large fixed glass panes.
RSCJ have long been associated with the agency, whose programs are
designed to empower some of the city’s most vulnerable people.
