Elizabeth White, RSCJ, to get honorary degree |

Elizabeth
White, RSCJ, will receive an honorary degree from Boston College on May
22 in recognition of her lifelong commitment as a Religious of the
Sacred Heart to the ministry of teaching.
Sister White, a
specialist in English literature, has spent more than five decades in
higher education at Newton College of the Sacred Heart in Boston and at
Boston College. She holds a doctoral degree from Catholic University in
Washington D.C.
In a letter to Sister White informing her
of the award, William P. Leahy, SJ, Boston College president, wrote:
“Your admirable decades-long fidelity to living out a primary mission
of the Society of the Sacred Heart, ‘to make known the love of God
through the service of education’ has influenced and helped shape the
values of countless young women and men in a manner that leaves them
and the Boston College community deeply indebted and most grateful for
your gentle presence among us.
Sister White will receive the award at the school’s commencement ceremony on May 22.
