Nearly three decades of service by RSCJ in the Diocese of Venice, Florida, are the subject of an article by Heather Felton in the June 24 edition of The Florida Catholic . The ministry in LaBelle, Florida, will come to an end this summer.

Sister Roche writes on Haiti for NCR

An article by Sister Diane Roche on Haiti, “getting back to normal,” appears in the June 4 issue of National Catholic Reporter. “Last week, our community of Sacred Heart sisters traveled from Verrettes to Port au Prince for a meeting, and I found myself thinking, “Thank God, things are getting back to normal,” she wrote. “At the same time, I am new enough to Haiti to find ‘normal’ somewhat shocking.”

Some years ago when I was on the faculty of the Catholic Theological Union at Chicago and had done a fair amount of research and writing about issues relating to women in the Church I received a call from a bishop in the Midwest. The bishop asked if I would spend a day with all the bishops and major superiors of his state, helping them to reflect on the topic “Women: What Are We Afraid Of?” I was intrigued by the topic and happy to accept his request.

JusticeNet is a site which seeks to "create an active electronic community of justice and peace, a community of conscience–partners who engage, study, reflect, change and act at all levels on what causes injustice."

Sister Nordman honored as Peacemaker

nordman_thSister Lucie Nordmann, rscj, received one of twelve Catholic Women Awards at ceremony in St. Louis on March 28. Sister Nordmann, patient/family advocate at St. Luke’s Hospital, Chesterfield, Missouri, since 1995, was honored in the category of Peacemaker.
