Sacred Heart Alum and Author Kate Chopin to be Honored

Kate Chopin was born in St. Louis in 1850. A Child of Mary and a graduate of City House, she became an acclaimed writer. Now the Central West End Association of the city of St. Louis will dedicate a Kate Chopin bust at the Writers’ Corner - the northwest corner of  McPherson and Euclid - in the Central West End. The dedication is set for Sunday, March 11, 2012, from 3 to 5 PM.

Founding Mothers of the CANZUS Region

The U.S. Province is part of the CANZUS region within the Society of the Sacred Heart. Made up of the provinces of Canada, Australia/New Zealand and the United States, the nations of CANZUS have shared languages, cutures and histories. Recently, the region created a bookmark that included a Litany to the founding mothers of these provinces. Sister Mary Lou Gavan, who works in the Archives of the U.S. Province, decided to learn a little more.
