Description of the image by Octavio Duran:

"The mural is on the outside wall of the hospital where [Romero] was killed.
It was painted by Renato Martin. The people represent the more than 75,000
who died during the 12 years of civil war. Each person bears the single bullet
that took Romero's life, as well as the wounds in their hands and feet identifying
them with the suffering of Christ. At the right are those who opposed, criticized
and ignored Romero's message of liberation. The roots are a symbol of his word
sprouting in the lives of the people."
